Our MHP series photoelectric sensors include retroreflective mode sensors. There are visible red and infrared LED light sources available. The MHP family has a rugged IP69K housing, which can withstand harsh environments and high-pressure wash down areas. Polarized and non-polarized models are available. The polarized models are able to effectively detect shiny objects. Options available are cable or quick-disconnect models and AC or DC models. The sensing ranges are 2.4 m and 9.1 m. Outputs available are NPN and PNP or thyristor.
Retroreflective mode sensors establish a light path between the sensor and a special reflector. An object is detected when the light path is broken. Typical retroreflective sensors provide a longer sensing range than a diffuse mode sensor. In some models a visible red LED is used to aid in the installation and alignment of the reflector. A polarizing filter is used to eliminate false signals that may occur if a shiny target passes in front of the sensor. Many types of reflectors are available.
